On August 25, 2026, the 2026 Expert Talk – SiC/GaN-Enabled 800V Data Centers & New Energy Innovation Summit was held in Shenzhen. Sun Kaifa, Chief Technology Expert of Guangzhou Zhiguang Electric Technology Co., Ltd., was invited to deliver a keynote presentation titled “Principles of the Coota Solid-State Transformer and Its Application in Integrated Solar-Storage-Charging Stations.”


Hosted by Expert Information Technology and Expert Topology Data, the summit brought together leading companies and technology experts from the fields of third-generation semiconductors such as SiC and GaN, AI data center power systems, and new energy charging. Featuring dedicated sessions on AIDC power and GaN technology, the event explored technological innovations and emerging opportunities under the 800V DC architecture.

During his presentation, Sun introduced the Coota solid-state transformer (SST) as a strategic extension of Zhiguang’s more than two decades of expertise in high-power power electronics. Unlike conventional transformers based on iron-core and coil structures, Coota leverages two core technologies—cascaded high-voltage direct connection and high-frequency power electronic conversion. It integrates three key technologies: all-SiC power devices, high-frequency power conversion, and fully digital intelligent control, enabling comprehensive in-house innovation from fundamental principles to commercial products.


Sun also shared Zhiguang’s practical experience in deploying Coota in integrated solar-storage-charging stations. Addressing key challenges commonly encountered by high-power charging stations—including long energy conversion chains, large site footprints, difficulties in grid capacity expansion, and low power factors under light-load conditions—Zhiguang has developed an innovative flexible DC distribution solution for solar-storage-charging applications, with the Coota SST at its core.

On August 7, 2026, Zhiguang’s Coota Solid-State Transformer Demonstration Base in Huangpu, Guangzhou, officially commenced operations. It is the first SST demonstration project in Guangdong Province with fully independent intellectual property rights, and represents a benchmark project for the industrialization of solid-state transformers in China.

Focused on high-power fast-charging applications, the demonstration base serves four key functions: product validation, application demonstration, technology iteration, and ecosystem development. Through long-term, multi-condition load testing, the base will continuously improve the reliability and cost-effectiveness of Coota products in real-world operating environments.


Leveraging the Huangpu demonstration base as a strategic platform, Zhiguang is continuing to strengthen its dual-core business portfolio of energy storage and solid-state transformers, while actively contributing to the development of new power systems, AI computing infrastructure, new energy vehicle charging networks, and green transformation of industrial parks.

At the same time, Zhiguang will continue to promote collaboration among government, industry, academia, and research institutions.
